Do you want to send books to your friend or family member in prison?

We want to help you in every way we can to get books & resources to your friends, family, and pen pals
in Texas prisons. Since individuals can not send packages to prisoners, we will gladly send them for you! Unfortunately, due to the great demand (we receive more than 700 letters a month), and our lack of monetary donations (we receive most of our money through independent fundraising), it will take at least 4-5 months for the books to be mailed, unless you provide the postage!
While we're happy to help out you and your loved one in any way possible, we are unable to send to Del Valle. If you have a friend or family member incarcerated there, you must go through a company like Amazon to get your books in.

Postage
If you would like for your friend or family member to get their books sooner, then you can send us stamps or the equivalent in cash. Generally, $5 covers the cost of sending a package of books. If you send us stamps or $ for postage, the books will be mailed ASAP and they should receive the package within a month. If you would like to include a letter with your package it MUST be written on an Inside Books Project receipt.

Books
We survive off of book donations and we send them to inmates for FREE! We are rarely able to fill specific book requests, so please include a general subject or genre that they would like to receive. If, however, you wish to send specific books, you may purchase them, come to a volunteer night, package them, and we will mail them for you. If you do not live in Austin, you can mail us the books and we will mail them for you. Some bookstores provide a similar service to ours if you buy the books from them, so, check with bookstores in your area first to see if they will send your package.
